Intermediate D/M Term 2 2021

I live in Osaka with my family.   I am twenty years old, and I am in my third year of college.   The reason why I took this course is because I want to be good at communicating my idea in English. Then, I found this course, and I thought I want to increase my chances of speaking English in this course.   I belonged to the badminton club when I was from junior high school student to high school student.   Currently, I don’t belong to the badminton club, but I sometimes play badminton and jogging because of resolving lack of exercise and reducing the opportunity to go out with COVID19.   My favorite food is Japanese ramen noodle. I like a variety kind of ramen tasty, but I especially like pork bone tasty. The ramen noodle is very delicious because it is creamy tasty. ...

  My name is Towa Matsubara and 18 years old. I’m from Osaka in Japan. I live in Osaka, but there are no convenience stores or supermarkets around it, so it's a very rural place. I live with my family.   Why I chose this course is I wanted to go study abroad but I couldn’t because of COVID-19. It’s different from studying abroad, but I want to try to be as effective as that.  I like exercising very much. I belonged to the track and field club in both junior high school and high school. I don't belong to clubs or circles at university, but I still go to high school and coach with my friends. I don't have any particular hobbies, but I often watch TV when I'm at home. The reason I study English is because I want to use an English-speaking job or work abroad in the future. My goal is to be able to speak English fluently. 

Hello. My name is Rio and I’m 20 years old. I live in Hokkaido, Japan, on my own.  The main reason for joining this course is that I want to study English deeply. I am in my second year of university, but I have hardly been able to go to university since I entered the university, so I felt unsatisfactory. Then I found this chance of learning English.  I like riding a bicycle and taking photos. I haven’t been able to go much recently, but I used to go out on my bicycle to take pictures. I often take pictures of the scenery; for example, sky, sea, flowers. I want to go abroad and take pictures of various landscapes around the world.  I think that the good point about me is that I can think positively about everything. If something unpleasant happens, I can think optimistically and switch quickly. My bad point is that I can’t stay focused. I always leave tasks that are almost done.   My name is Hung-Yi Peng. I come from Taiwan. I live with my parents. And I'm 16 years old already. The reason why I’m doing this course is because I can't go abroad this year, and I want to improve my English language. When I have free time, I like to read book, watching anime, playing piano and listening to music. My favorite reading subjects are history and society. About piano, I play classic music more often than modern music. I also like swimming. By the way, I don't like jogging because that's really torment for me. As for my good point, I am the person who keep one's opinion. My bad point is I have no patient. And my goal is to be a person who has wonderful life! I don't have photo this few years so I only can use this old photo.

 My name is Maho Yasaka and I’m 22 years old. I’m live in Kyoto by myself now for college. My home town is Oita which is part of Kyushu, next to Fukuoka. One of the reason of why I am doing this course is I was not able to go for the study abroad that I planned 2020 by some reasons so it’s my second try to study English language.  My favorite things to do are watching movie and anime, reading book or manga. Also I really like traveling by myself. I went to Sri Lanka, Maldives, Korea, Croatia, Russia and New Zealand. I hope it’s going to be easily and peacefully to traveling around world.  In my future, I want to be a Japanese language teacher and I’m studying for it. This is the necessary skill that speaking accuracy English for teaching Japanese language by English. So I need to improve it.  My goal is to be a dependable teacher and living like a journey.

Hi, my name is David Woodfield and I’m 58 years of age. I live in Dunedin, NZ, together with my wife, Patricia, and our dog, Neo. I’m teaching this course in fulfilment of my duties as a teacher at the University of Otago. Before I began teaching this course, I was teaching an onsite course at the advanced level. My likes include reading, watching TV and walking. I like reading books about faith, art & society. As for TV, I enjoy watching romantic movies. I like walking from my home to my office each day and taking Neo for walks around my neighbourhood . I’m not a fan of waiting in queues, eating chocolate that has a sticky or chewy centre, or trying to figure out what’s wrong when my computer isn’t doing what I want it to do. As you know, I am an English language teacher. I enjoy my job because I am interested in language and I like working with people from a variety of cultures. My name is Mike. I come from Dunedin, but I lived in Japan for about twenty years. I am 52 years old, but I feel very young. I like cooking; for example, curry, reading; especially, horror stories. My favourite writer is Edgar Alan Poe. His stories are very scary, especially if I read them at night when it is raining and windy. I also like listening to music, in particular, jazz. My favourite artist is Melody Gardot. She plays the guitar and can sing very well. She helps me to relax. I also like to keep fit, so I ride my bicycle and skip. I skip every day for two minutes. Two minutes does not seem a long time, but it is very hard and I am very tired when I finish. I work as an English teacher at the university. I think I am good at communicating to other people, but my bad point is that I can’t say “no.” In the future I want to publish a book about communication. I look forward to meeting you.
