The Question of Immigration / Kentaro Maruyama
For many years, immigration problems have
been discussed in the world. I know there some advantages and disadvantages
about the problems. I think there are more disadvantages than advantages, so I
disagree with the opinion that is “opening up of one’s country to immigrants
from a wide variety of other countries is a good thing”. I have two reasons for
my disagreement.
Firstly,
if immigration increase in a country, the country’s culture might disappear. Recently,
Korean culture is so popular in Japan. If the trend continues for many years, new
generations might misunderstand about Japanese culture. That means Korean
culture will replace Japanese culture. In addition, there would be increased
culture problems. Even now, I have heard of some problems. For example, Sana
Minatozaki, who is a K-pop idol as a Japanese member, celebrated the change of
the Japanese era from Heisei to Reiwa. After that, she was blamed by many
Korean people. That reason why she lives in Korea, and spends much time there, so
they said she shouldn’t celebrate the change. When I heard the news, I couldn’t
understand well, so if immigration was more common, problems would increase
like the news.
Secondly,
a country’s population would explode if it happened. And then, the government couldn’t
monitor for overall information of the people who live in the country. This
situation is so dangerous because they don’t notice some crimes that occurred where
they didn’t know. Furthermore, following increasing immigrant, international marriage
would be more common. If so, discrimination would increase because there are
many people who are racist. That means immigrants might be bullied at their school
or workplace. If it happened, they would be so sad.
In
conclusion, I disagree with the opinion because of my two reasons. Basically, I
think that if immigration was more common, some problems that the number of
people who get hurt would increase. Even if immigrant come, I don’t think these
racists will decline, so the immigration issues are kept continue as a
difficult problem.
I agree with your opinion that discrimination would increase. During globalization, we would have to think about discrimination more if immigration accepted. ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, I don't think Sana have any wrong, I know the people who attack Sana have their opinion, but I don't think Sana is wrong in this happen.
ReplyDeleteA thoughtful response to the question. Indeed the mixing of people from various cultures can lead to people from each culture being annoyed with each other. On the other hand, though, there is the possibility that people will come to appreciate those from other cultures more once they get to know them & know about them. Perhaps a society can't achieve the gain that this new appreciation represents without the risk of a certain number of people responding negatively to the newcomers. I believe the benefit is worth the risk.
ReplyDeleteAnd then there is the point that countries with a very low fertility rate such as Japan and hence an aging population will probably have no alternative but to accept more immigrants.
