The Question of Immigration / Hung-Yi Peng
In the present world, a lot of people migrate to other countries, and there are some advantages and disadvantages. Although the advantages can make the world more flourishing, it’s the time to stop it, because of a lot of reasons, like the people won’t like their own culture or country, but this is just a short time. This is why I disagree with accepting immigrants from other countries.
The first reason why I disagree is because if there are too many people migrate to other countries, then we need to discuss a very serious problem, “loyalty”. Loyalty in Chinese means you love the things from your heart, although there are not any benefits for you to keep this opinion. I know immigration to another country doesn’t mean that you don’t like your original country, but because of this question, there is a very big question mark. And another question is, will the people be loyal to their new country? What if the foreigners are spies and what can you do if the foreigners are refugees who wants to get back to their country, both will make public security problems. This is a serious problem too.
The second reason, if too many foreigners migrate to your country, you need to worry about your original culture. Because the foreigners will bring their own culture to their new country, and if more of the foreigners come, there will be created a group of the people who are from the same country, and they will create a culture which is from their original culture. So, day by day, your country’s own culture will be threatened, like religion. Religion is a very common thing in the world, there are a lot of religions in the world, and because of this, when the religion has been threatened, the followers will fight with other religion’s followers, this is a kind of cultural threat, because religion is a part of culture, and this problem always happened in the Middle East.
Because of this problem, I think governments can’t invite people migrate to their country, because this will make the world crash one day, if they don’t stop. But it’s just for short time, like 80 years to 130 years. During this time, we need to make a real global world that the people in the world have a lot of knowledge about their own culture and other’s culture. After this, we will have a world which people respect to other culture and love their culture, and that time the world will be cosmopolitanism world government.
I thought both of loyalty and original culture are quite important by accepting immigrants. Are you proud of your country and culture?
ReplyDeleteOf course, I proud of my country and I proud of my culture.
DeleteWhat are you particularly proud of?
DeleteThe Republic of China is the country which let China have a very big changing, and in my country, we retain the greatest Chinese culture, like traditional Chinese words and we are democracy country, these is why I proud of my country and culture.
DeleteI agree with you especially second opinion. I don't know what Japanese current culture is because Japanese people likes Korean culture and other cultures, so when I was asked what is J-pop, I couldn't explain about that. Recent Japanese songs seem mix song that means these songs include K-pop factor etc. That' why I agree with your second opinion.
ReplyDeleteI like Japanese anime, and the song are really great.
DeleteAnd yes, I don't know what is T-pop, and I don't think anyone knows.
Your response to this topic is quite perceptive. It is true that when a lot of immigrants from a particular country or region migrate to a particular country they often build a subculture there, having their own places of religious worship, their own community centers, shops and restaurants, and often the language of their homeland is spoken in these places. Over time though usually such immigrants become acculturated to a degree, often adopting aspects of their host culture while maintaining aspects of their home culture. I think it can also be argued that various 'ethnic' neighborhoods in a country bring cultural richness rather than cultural disunity and conflict. David :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with your opinion, but sometimes if the nationalism of both sides(here mean ethnic not nation) are too strong, it would have problem.
